As fear spread through Kurram after the 22 November 2024 Bagan attack, Doctor Qadir emerged as one of the most respected Sunni voices in the district — not for speeches, but for action on the ground.
Residents in Thall, Sadda, and surrounding areas say Doctor Qadir opened his clinic doors day and night to treat wounded passengers, Sunni elders, and displaced families who could not reach hospitals in Parachinar. He reportedly arranged medicines, blood donations, and emergency transport for victims turned away from blocked routes.
"When roads were closed and people were desperate, Doctor Qadir did not ask who you were — he asked how badly you were hurt," a local shopkeeper told Kurram Updates. "He is a hero for the Sunni community and for anyone who needed help."
Tribal volunteers who worked alongside him said he personally coordinated medical camps for Sunni villages cut off from supplies, paid for treatment out of his own pocket, and urged doctors from nearby districts to volunteer their time.
During weeks of tension, Doctor Qadir also used his influence to calm frightened families, discourage revenge violence, and insist that innocent people must not be punished for the crimes of armed groups. Sunni jirga members credit him with preventing further bloodshed in several volatile areas.
Community leaders have called for official recognition of his service, saying his work showed the true face of Kurram's Sunni leadership — courage, compassion, and unity in the darkest hours.
